As a mental health counselor, I was looking for a book to share with families about Schizophrenia. I was very disappointed. The book does not have any references to the facts that it shares. It is very crudely written at times, and is not written in an empathetic way for the family of a client dealing with this diagnosis. I can't give this book to a family. I was very disappointed.
If you are looking for a quick guide that is easy to understand and contains all the relevant information about schizophrenia, this can be the book you are looking for.It is not a professional, in-depth research or medical textbook. It is written in plain language so everyone can understand it. Schizophrenia is extremely complicated condition and it is not a bad idea to educate yourself because you can never know when you might need some information on this sensitive topic. I recommend this book to start.
Don't waste your money. This book is barely understandable, poorly written, often grammatically incorrect, and full of false information and contradictions. Example: "It is like diabetes, there is no cure yet" then a few paragraphs later "Schizophrenia is curable. Even when there is no cure in a specific way, this disease can be efficiently and successfully managed".
Schizophrenia has overtime become a recognized psychotic disorder in our present days. It's a dreaded disease and comes as a near death experience for anyone diagnosed with such condition. This book has been very informative and helpful in diagnosing its early stages and detecting the factors responsible for causing schizophrenia, including its treatments.
I needed to read this TODAY. I have finally come to terms with what I have dealing with with my mate. Now I know what I have been experiencing is not normal. He needs help and this is giving me the courage to go out and get it. Thank you so much for the encouragement.
FYI-This book is the authors personal opinion, and they are not a psychiatrist.
It is a lot smaller of a book then i thought it was and has about size 16 font the whole way through. I feel as though i purchased a childs "First Reader" book. It is thinner then a magazine.
I have quite recently peruse this book. I have understood how little i think about Schizophrenia and how deceptive most data about it is. I knew it as like 'numerous identities' however acknowledged how wrong i was. This book clarifies the neurological systems included in Schizophrenia in a much less difficult path than most medicinal related books do.This book will stand out enough to be noticed rapidly and keep up it all through while instructing you in the meantime.I wish I had read this book much earlier. The book has detailed information on how to recognize, treat and help our dear ones suffering from this ailment.
