I purchased this book to better interpret ISO as it applies to our company. It has a good overview for those new to ISO, as well as insight for those transitioning from 2008 to 2015. I like how the author explains each requirement and it’s rationale in everyday language and provides examples which meet the requirement. Keep in mind that these are guidelines, so in an actual audit situation, you still have to use judgement and collaborate with your auditor and his interpretation. Don’t forget to refer to the handy recommended « implementation order » at the end of the book.My colleagues kept borrowing this book from me, and now we have 6 more copies at the office between all of us.

I read Craig Cochran’s book along with another authors book recently published on the ISO9001:2015 standard that was released last fall and found Craig’s book to be a better resource. I found a wealth of information to assist in our planning and ultimate conversion to the 2015 version of the standard. Craig’s descriptions are detailed enough that by reading the book and the ISO9001:2015 standard together we understood what we need to do. Each section of the standard is covered with notes of what has changed and what has stayed the same. Frequently asked questions are included, real world examples, tips and details of suggested ways to address the standards requirements. Numerous tables provide information on the various areas such as interested parties, process matrix, risk assessment, and others. The last chapter and appendixes provide guidance on implementation or moving an existing certification to the 2015 version. Craig has been very responsive to questions that I have emailed to him which is very helpful. As an ISO9001 practitioner for over 20 years dating back to the 1st itineration of the standard I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to implement or upgrade their Quality Management System to ISO9001:2015.

After getting about 1/3 of the way through the book, I'm wondering if Mr. Cochran based this text on a draft copy of ISO 9001: 2015.The italicized text in the book generally has the same meaning as the actual text from ISO 9001: 2015, but the two commonly don't mach each other. For example:Section 5.2.1 Establishing the quality policy:The book reads"Fits the organization's purpose, environment, and strategy"ISO 9001: 2015 reads "is appropriate to the purpose and context of the organization and supports its strategic direction;"There are similar differences throughout the book.Otherwise the book is informative and it's been a good resource.

This is the only book you will need to help you achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification.Trust me, I have four other books related to the 2015 Standard that have been gathering dust after purchasing Mr.Cochran's book. His book became my "Bible" during our transition from the 2008 ISO 9001 Standard. I referred to the book early and often and I really appreciated the "Plain English" explanations and examples provided throughout. The author has also added many helpful examples that will assist you in sorting out areas such as "Context", "Risk-Based Thinking", and "Interested Parties". I also used the book as a "tie-breaker" to settle the occasional differences of opinion that arise when interpreting a new Standard. From my point of view this was money well-spent and my proof is the ISO 9001:2015 Certificate we proudly display..

We began preparing for ISO Certification earlier this year. I could not have done it without Craig's book! Craig takes a very complex standard and breaks it down, so that it is much easier to understand and implement. When I had questions, I was even able to get direct help from the author. When it comes time to begin developing our ISO internal auditing processes I'm going to purchase his book on that subject. I highly recommend this book, and anything written by Craig.

I bought this book for my colleague who is heading up our transition from the 2008 standard to the 2015 standard. I bought it based on good reviews it already had. He took the book on an international trip, and told me, "I'll read it on the plane."When he came back, I must say, he could not stop talking about what a good book it was. Early this year, he took and online class from ASQ, which he deemed "worthless." He said the ASQ class simply regurgitated the standard with no explanation. "ISO 9001:2015 In Plain English" is a perfect title for this book, he explained, as it does just what it says -- it makes the transition to 2015 easy to understand without any pretentiousness.Perhaps the best testament to this book is my colleague's statement, "I enjoyed reading it." Imagine -- a book about ISO 9001 described as "enjoyable!"

This is the best book on ISO 9001 I have ever read. Many of the plain English explanations and suggestions were incorporated into our Upgrade audit to ISO 9001:2015 and the auditor praised our approach which we took directly from this book. There is a 4th edition of the Cianfrani, West ISO Explained book which was written by key members of the US TAG group which is not as complete nor as helpful as Cochrans book. If you plan to upgrade your existing ISO 9001 QMS to the 2015 version make sure you buy this book.

Excellent guide to the standard. I used this book and we were registered to the new standard in April. The auditor was very impressed with our interpretation and implementation of the 2015 standard. I bought this as well as "The almost painless transition" book. Don't waste your money on that book. This one is so much better and easier to follow.
