As a book editor prior to entering the nursing student world, I can confidently say this book is laborious, contradictory, and dull. And I used to edit Old Testament exegetical tomes ... that had no illustrations. This is worse.I would greatly appreciate it if medical schools did more research on which textbooks clearly teach the topics necessary to master, so that—as their students struggle with purposefully bewildering multiple-choice exams—they could fully grasp the life-or-death concepts necessary to help and heal patients.ATTN Nursing School Faculty: Read at least 3 randomly selected chapters (preferably on a topic you are somewhat unfamiliar with ... like a newbie student would) in each book you assess for purchase. Do you feel as though the terminology is clearly defined? Could you teach someone else the concept you just learned about ... or are there gaps in your newly grasped idea, made evident as you attempt to explain it to another adult?Then that book is leaving gaps for your students, which is leaving gaps in their performance for patients.

If your course reading assignments are given by page number, rather than entire chapters or units, steer clear of the kindle edition. There's no page numbers, just location numbers, which won't correspond to what's assigned. Also, there's no access code if you're looking to use The Point.

This book was required for my class except they did mention ed. 13 instead, however, I decided to get the 14th edition b/c the price was the same for a new 13th edition and 14th edition so why not get the updated info for the same price? As stated, I got a new book and it was received in the plastic wrap and let me tell you these books, emphasis on bookS (it's a bundle, volume 1 & 2), are heavy. I was not expecting the package to be that heavy. Books were clean, never used, no dents, or scratches. I haven't read them yet, but I feel prepared to start reading ahead for this coming semester!! Before I purchased I asked if this came with online access I was told it did which was important bc the course i needed it for does online assignments on the publishers site "Thepoint". turns out the online access is only for additional study materials and not access to The point which would leave me needing to purchase separate online access which costs as much as the book does. for only a few $$$ more than this book set you can buy an online version which has the entire book AND comes with the online access needed. If you dont need access to The Point then the book is fine,

I was under the impression that the book would be divided into 2 separate volumes but was surprised to see that it is all together. I’m extremely disappointed and I hope the book doesn’t just fall apart considering how massive it is. I paid for a new book but it wasn't wrapped or anything. I recommend you buy this off the website and not on amazon.

Very disappointed. I work in surgical field- thoracic surgery, and for that part I can say that the book is 5-10 years out-of-date. In fact, I have one of the previous editions and there is almost no change.

This is probably my worst purchase all year. The platform does not have valid page numbers, there is not an easy way to get to the chapters, it is impossible to copy any of the information such as definitions to study, and everyone else who purchased this book received a code to use online to access study information. Lastly, the book is quite "wordy" where you will read the same information over, and over to where it is quite boring. There are not many pictures or priority information boxes. Please consider buying the Medical-Surgical Nursing 9th Edition Ingatavicius, Workman, and Rebar book.

Can as one book. Thought it was 2 volumes but still a good deal for the large book. Our instructor actually uses the book. They delivered good timing. Has chapter and page detail of content. Great subtopic headlines. Easy to follow.

They completely forget that already during colonial times clocks were produced in North America. The volume admittedly was small, but the years 1700 to 1750 are also part of our horological heritage. This lack of awareness may be partly caused by the lack of books about colonial horology. It documents 96 high quality tall case clocks from 1720 to 1785 produced throughout the colonies, and provides a broader context for the book under review ], and certainly the book under review is the first and only book that describes the life, the oeuvre and the socio-economic environment of a colonial era American clockmaker in depth and in detail.The protagonist is Peter Stretch (1670-1746) a Quaker clockmaker from Leek (Staffordshire, UK) who immigrated to Philadelphia with his young family in 1703, only 20 years after the settlement was founded. Together, they have created a book that will be equally cherished by horologists, by antiques collectors, and by Philadelphia local history buffs.The book was triggered by the October 4, 2004 sale of a clock by Peter Stretch at Sotheby's in New York. At 2:08 p.m. that Thursday afternoon a "Queen Anne Carved and Figured Mahogany Tall Case Clock, Peter Stretch, Philadelphia, Circa 1740" set a world record (still unbroken) for an American made clock when it sold for $ 1'688'000. The Winterthur Museum was the winning bidder. The clock has since been gently restored, and is worth a detour - if not a trip - if you find yourself in the mid-atlantic states.To fully understand and appreciate that `record breaking clock' it is necessary to not only study the object, but to examine the context of its creation, i.e. the whole oeuvre of Peter Stretch, his whole biography, and the whole sociological, economic and historic environment of Quaker dominated Philadelphia in the first half of the 18th century. The third chapter (45 pages) is a narrative of the technical and stylistic evolution of Stretch made clocks during the first half of the 18th century. It also discusses tools, equipment and shop practices, as well as the general development of horological trade in the city during those years. To an amazing extent the story is told by quoting numerous original contemporary sources such as newspapers, advertisements, letters, inventories, wills, minutes of Quaker assemblies, etc. (there are 244 footnotes in the first three chapters, most of them referring the reader to the original source documents).To create the book the authors launched a major effort to identify as many surviving clocks as possible made by Peter Stretch (and his three clock-making sons, who all made their early clocks in their father's shop). My wife and I are considering buying a home while the economy is downturned and interest prices are low. As Such we want to avoid the scams and traps that other people got involved with. So on the recommendation of others I bought this book and I am glad I did. I bought the kindle edition, and as it is divided in a text book format the kindle edition has some layout issues, but I don't take that away from the rating because the content is very thorough. The book goes step by step through various home buying scenarios including short sales, foreclosures, and new construction. It outlines many of the unexpected cost of buying a house and gives the first time home buyer a much more realistic expectation of financing and fees than may have been the case without the book. Good read for the responsible first time home buyer.

This book provides well-written and well-presented advice on home selling. You can read chapters in detail, or just skim for the "tips" and "traps" notes. Irwin is agnostic about FSBO vs. real estate agents --- he provides advice for both situations, and guidance on how to decide which way to go.Be wary, however, of following the tax advice in this book. It was written in 1990, and tax laws have changed considerably since then. Find another source for real estate tax advice.

I borrowed this book at the Library at first, but there's so many Tips to remember and it's such an Excellent book to have, I can't resist not to have it. And so I bought it, I'm glad I did. Lots of information and resource. Seller's lived up to it's promised, the book was delivered as promised, nicely packed, New and Spotless. Excellent, excellent work.

This is an overall good resource. It is an almost 20 yr old book (published in 1990!), hence it can't be relied upon today (2009) as the only authoritative source of info before buying a home. But, in general, it has important information on numerous tips and traps of buying a home, to better equip any 1st time buyer (like me).

This book is worth the money if you are trying to purchase a home. I would also recommend picking up the audio version if you have an audio book membership.
