If you love spiders and want to raise a tarantula, this book is the one for you. Beautifully illustrated with great information about taking care of our hairy 8 legged neighbors. This book has everything you need to raise a tarantula from birth through birthing.

Better books out there though.

one of the best little books, great information, magnific pictures and easy to understand care and all aspects for Tarantula breeding and keeping. hope they continue research and publishing more new tips.

This book was a great help when it came to aspects of arachnid keeping such as feeding, living conditions and mating. This was my first book when I was begginning to keep Tarantulas and it taught me what I needed to know about keeping my pet happy and comfortable. It also was very informative when it came to the biology of the arachnids and explianed about everything from thier fangs to thier spinnerets. The only major problem I found with this book is it's insufficient explaination of spider habits and psychology. Because I was a begginner I wasn't sure how my spider felt and what it's different reactions to events meant. This book is excellent for begginners and I would recommend it to anyone starting out with arachnids although anyone with interests in arachnids behaviour then you should possibly consider a book which concentrates on it.

I'm new to Tarantula keeping and needed a reference which was well researched informative and easy to understand. Sam Marshall's book is all of these things and more. The books many illustrations are also very helpful. Great for newcomers to the hobby.

This is a well written, very informative book covering just about all aspects of tarantula care. It is a must for the beginners, and still helpful to the more experienced. Covering the basics of anatomy, husbandry, handling, breeding, etc.. Good amount of species specific information, too. Housing requirements for aboreals, opportunistic burrowers, obligate burrowers, is very informative. Great book.

This book is not about how to set up a winning argument providing the best evidence and the best logical case. It is about getting what you want as you communicate with others. People are emotional beings that focus not just on weighing the presented evidence. People have self interests, they are prejudiced, there are emotions and desires, group associations, and then there’s body language, and to get what you want they have to like you, etc. When you argue a case in court, or at home or at work, or to any group of people, you have to consider all of that.Very briefly; you have to prepare, you have to listen to the other, you have to understand the other, find common ground, and you have to be credible. Therefore you should not avoid emotions and your argument should be personal, and you must always be truthful. Our argument cannot be perceived as a threat or we will never be heard, and assault is not argument. He discusses how to deal with prejudice and hostility and tells us that sometimes losing is winning and sometimes an argument shouldn’t be made at all. He also mentions that telling personal stories is a good way of getting people to see things your way. In addition to advice and guidelines there’s also quite a bit of wisdom and personal opinions, some of which I agree with and some of which I don’t agree with.One thing I object to is that he sometimes overextends his perspective. For example, there are arguments, or communications, which should avoid emotions and for which the people involved and even their perceived credibility should not matter. I am talking about peer review in natural science and mathematical discourse, which I see as the best path towards “truth”. In that case only the evidence matter and the data and mathematical derivations speak for itself. However, that is outside of his expertise, like so much else that is outside of his expertise. That’s why I titled my review “A Lawyer’s Perspective”.That does not mean it is not a good book. The book is filled with useful insights and I learned a lot from the book. One of the things I learned from this book is that if I know a lot about a subject and I am arguing with someone who’s very misinformed but stubborn I must resist the temptation to be patronizing, or to crush them. My goal should be to inform them, not to make them hate me. That was just one of many examples of what I’ve learned reading this book. I highly recommend this book.

Using the paradigms in this book, I have conquered many opponents I was reluctant to deal with before due to (mostly) fear. The author has a non-standard approach to creating argumentative energy seemingly out of nothing. If you have the patience to wade through his tree-hugging stuff you will become empowered just by reading some paragraphs about the human weaknesses. If you don't understand what tree-hugging means, it may also be the key to your inability to win some arguments before and is key to unlocking your potential.Once we understand how to handle our weaknesses and use the power of higher moral ground, truth and integrity we become invincible.Btw, if you simply want to learn about logical fallacies - get a school book. Simply knowing the logical fallacies didn't help him much in the court cases he tried. He is just cynical enough to convey the reality of life but is not fixated on it while providing all the tools to prepare you for the B.S. that gets thrown at you every day.There's another book I know of that uses eastern philosophy and some martial arts techniques in dealing with problems - "Aikido in Everyday Life: Giving in to Get Your Way" by Terry Dobson and Victor Miller. In some ways the books are identical.

Originality at its best, Gerry Spence is a true thinker that has not only thought but lived what he writes about.Full of insights for life, written in a clear, concise and yet aesthetic style. Certainly one of the best books I have ever read, and I do read a lot.If you want to learn, think and feel deeply about new ideas, this book is for you.

Awesome, Heartfelt and wonderfully practical and insightful read. If you want to win at home or in business, keep this book handy and re-read as necessary. Sometimes it is better to think out of the box. Spence wins my interest and heart every time.

Over the years I have actually purchased this book at least 3different times. It is one of the best self help books I haveever read. At first when seeing the title and knowing it waswritten by a lawyer, I thought, wait minute, what would a lawyerknow about self help for just the average person and that it wouldbe written in lawyer=ese. I was amazed at just how much benefitit could be to anyone who needs help now and then standing up forthemselves, etc. It's just a book you will keep coming back to.this time I plan not to lose track of it but if I do, I will justhave to buy a new one. I am a senior citizen (very much so) andI will never tire of re=reading it. Any age will reap a wonderfulbenefit from this book.

Love the concepts in this book and Gerry certainly entertains with his integration of stories from his career. I found the book a little long and dry in some parts. Worth the price though.

This is a great book by a great author and trial lawyer. Some of the poor reviews I've read claiming Gerry doesn't tell you how to argue and win are wet behind the ears. One of the great things any master of negotiation and arguments will tell you is LISTEN to the other side. The poor reviews aren't listening nor do they understand one of the best lawyers in the nation. Gerry does in fact tell you how to argue and win by listening and knowing your opponent. Thanks, Gerry, for such a great read and great career you had.

I love ❤️ everything about this book 📖 and whats funny is my sister saw the title of the book and called me she was like “Pepper the book ur reading sound stupid”, I was like “oh yeah why u say that” she was like “it just does” so I laughed 😂😂 I asked her what she think the book may be about she was like “she must can’t keep her husband” I scream laughing 😆 saying I’m sure u and a lot more ppl think that and I told her “y’all are all wrong”...... Anyway BM Hardin this book had so many dang on twist and turns so full of suspicious 😒 I was like who the hell is taunting her they were getting on my nerves lmbo...I don’t wanna say much w/out spoilers but put it this way u got grab ur copy of Her 13th Husband!!! 😉😉

I had a hospital procedure done and afterwards, being I always have to be doing something, even when recuperating, found this novel that I forgot I bought on my kindle. Well, guess I'll read it. At the end of the first chapter...WOW! It took two days to fully read this and I was blown! Ivy is married to Nico and everything appears to be blissful. Appears to be. It seems that Ivy forgot to mention some things to Nico....like the fact that she had been married 12 times before him and all the husbands are all dead. This was a book where the characters are NOTHING as they appear to be and the truth is buried so far down in the ground that it could be lying next to any one of the husbands. This is my second Hardin novel and THE JANES was just as good a read as this one. Looks like to me that I will be visiting Hardinville many more times.

The twists and turns left me speechless at times. I honestly thought Ivy was faking like she didn't play a role but after everything I learned I was a bit shocked. Mama Kay was definitely her sister's keeper because she went above and beyond to provide protection when needed. I thought Cage was a bit creepy but I'm glad he finally put Ivy in the know about what was occurring around her and why. Simeon should've stayed clear and allowed the professionals to handle things. I wish things were different for Juju and Ivy got the opportunity to whip Sheree's ass just once. The culprit behind everything was a for sure shock. See what not asking the right questions and being completely sure will do! Who would've ever thought being a widow so many times would cause so much trouble. Overall I loved this book and didn't want to put it down and glad some happiness eventually came about from all the chaos.

An incredible writer. She is better than a spider spinning a web. She captivates the read from the 1st sentence. This book is her web. She held me in her web. The characters..... Mama Kay my favorite, are individuals that stand on their own merits. But the story that is told. The reality of the issue at hand. 13th Husband will have your mouth open. Did she really do that? Kudos to Ms. Hardin. Keep using the gift that God gave you. This book is awesome. Not what I expected. Enjoyed it tremendously.

Where do I begin. BM Hardin does not disappoint. She has a knack for writing some of the most outlandish unpredictable books and this was no different. I must say that this book kept me on edge. I enjoyed it and I was almost afraid to get to the end. Msg. Hardin is not for the faint of heart nor is her writing. She brings something totally different the the game. This book will be one I can easily forget I wasted my time reading. Poor choice of vocabulary to describe feelings show lack of sophisticated writing style. The language about sex or description of a penis sounds as if it were written by a middle schooler. The plot was totally absurd. Married 13 times and 12 end up dead and no one suspects you seems quite ridiculous. She said she had nothing to do with the murders but only tells her mother/ sister to kill two or three of them. How can she say she's not responsibe? It was a book selected by a book club I joined but I'm not sure why they selected it. I don't recommend that you read this because it's a total waste of time.

Ms. Hardin showed up & showed out with this book! The sneak peeks & blurbs could never prepare me for the ride this book took me on. Suspense & drama from beginning to end, with no character left out. Loved every OMG, gasp, & curse word this masterpiece brought out of me. Thank you B.M. Hardin for brightening up my day with your talented writing.

Wow very entertaining and with a lot of twists and turns you never seen around the corner. This woman didn't know who to trust other than her mother/sister and she wasn't to sure about her at times. But Mama was a beast at what she did but everybody makes that one mistake that comes back to haunt you in the end. Great read B M Hardin but damn 13 times.

I read the first book to my 6 (now 7) year old and she was captivated by it. So I started looking for the other books in the series and found this edition for only $.99! As a result, I've never had to look for anything for my kids to read for the last two months, and we're still only halfway done. The stories get pretty weird, but there is nothing inappropriate and the kids really like listening to them. They told me "Harry Potter" was too scary, so this is a good thing to tide them over for a while. Also, the chapters are kind of short (generally) and they are pretty much self-contained narratives, so you don't have to worry about the kids getting lost. Basically Dorothy needs to solve some sort of problem and manages it by the end through a bunch of weird circumstances. There is a lot of creativity in these books, I think they're somewhat underrated.There are things in these books that make my 7 year old laugh out loud and that's rare to find in ANY book!

Even though it says "Illustrated," please note that the pictures are only included for the first book, NOT the complete collection. The stories, of course, are wonderful, but there are typos, and I was hoping for more pictures, so I could keep my little one engaged.

To see what you are missing take a look at The Marvelous Land of Oz [Illustrated] ASIN: B004T5NI8S as a comparison. Short of an active TOC and at least having the actual stories present there was not much to recommend otherwise. There are far better illustrated versions than ASIN: B074TB85TW out there.

Brand New unopened from the stunning box set. My daughter has already started reading her new Wizard of Oz chapter books. She's been in love with the world of Oz since infancy. I used to read to her the childrens book version and let her watch the 80s cartoon version ; till she was old enough to watch Judy Garlands version. And she loves them all. So these books... she almost cried with joy seeing them. They are beautiful. And they arrived yesterday, they still had plenty of time before arrival. Thank you for the speedy delivery!

Once upon a time an imaginative author created a fairyland where no one ever dies, where children never grow up, where the main characters have rollicking adventures, and life lessons are gently taught. L. Frank Baum wrote fourteen books peopled by principled characters who deal fairly with the villains. Many imaginary characters have stories written about them that teach lessons, but all the stories are fun and full of adventure! The descriptions of locations, characters, and items are wildly imaginative, and the reader can't help but be intrigued by what is unfolding. These books are a century old and were written for a gentler age, but any child who enjoys using one's imagination will enjoy these books.

It took a little over a year, reading to my daughter every night before bedtime, but we finished all 14 books. It was so fun to move beyond the first book and really get to know these characters. It is too bad that the movies created do not follow the story lines in these books. Who knew that Dorothy's slippers were silver, there were no farm hands to speak of, the wicked witch did not begin to torment Dorothy and her friends until they journey to her from the Emerald City and the flying monkeys are not owned by the witch. The books are so fun and interesting there is nothing needed to change them for cinema. Baum had a unique writing style that makes you feel he is with you telling a story aloud. The stories are well-written and flow so smoothly. The action is never too much for a young child (mine is 4), and there is nothing too scary about the stories. The wild imaginative creatures and scenery described makes you want to live in Oz. It is a fairyland where interesting things happen all the time. Very curious inhabitants are just representative of our different cultures, and it is wonderful how Baum attempts to want peace and utopia throughout every novel. Read a little on his back story. It will make you appreciate the stories even more and help you picture him writing these for his children, well initially.

I'm still slogging through, and the stories get repetitive after a while. Dorothy doesn't seem to age throughout. I guess that Baum was trying to keep the character relatable, at the expense of her stories being a bit too similar to one another. Of course dramatic tension is never very high, and all problems are a deus ex machina event away from resolution. But it is a good primer on early 20th century point of view and conventions, and for that alone it is worth the read

Well worth spending the extra buck to have illustrations and solid navigation. Even though the items are available "free" elsewhere, they're so well organized and presented here that I have no problem paying the (very) modest price for the effort to organize and present well.
