I love the art on these cards, but the card material sucks. Although they are a thick card stock, they are not playing card style. Actually, they're almost too thick to shuffle. They are matte and not glossy. The edges are rough from the cut. I don't believe these cards will hold up with normal use. I will end up putting them aside as a conversation piece.

It's the kind of box you would put in a bookcase and just stare at it. When you open it, you see the bullets in the sides and feels how sturdy, protective, it is. The kind of box that would survive an apocalipse.Book: It is small (the same size as the cards) and concise, simple and yet perfect. The pages have an old feeling to them, being yellow and rough. It has more spreads than the usual, like "The Severed Head," that fits the style anyone using this tarot seems to be heading to.Protection: If the cards had an additional case to them, a small one, that fitted the cards perfectly so you didn't needed to carry the box to have them protected, I would give it a ten. But inside the box they're protected by a velvet surface that keep the cards the same way you saw them when you first opened the box, and, as I said, the box can take some good blows.Cards: They're great. The only two things I'm going to complain about is the thickness and resistance of the paper. The borders of the paper can be damaged very sightly in the back side and it is thicker than my other tarot cards. But I can shuffle it with no real problems and the printing is perfect, so I'm giving it a 8.5.Art: It speaks to me so clearly that it turned this deck to be my favorite over every other deck I've seen in my life, and I've seen a lot. You can judge by yourself by looking at the pics of the major arcana that are disponible here at amazon. Now, speaking as a tarologue, he meaning of the cards is impeccable as far as I studied them, and they still can have their own originality, as seen in the minor arcana, where the suit of pantacles is substituted by the suit of hazards.If the simple problems I presented were solved, I would gladly pay double the price I paid for the deck. But for the price it is, it is more than I ever expected. I can only recommend it, to either starters or experts.
As a Zombie fan, and a Fido being one of my favorite zombie movies, this deck hits the sweet spot. I absolutely love the imagery.Couldn't help but notice that 8 cards are different:7 of those 8 have art the exceeds their frame/border and the othet of the 8 cards, the 6 of Swords, is the ONLY card, besides The High Priestess, with People of Color featured.Odd, but typical of the era I guess. It just really stood out. It's hard to find any tarot deck with PoC to be honest, but they are worth looking for.If you're seeking one, google The Sinking Wasteland Tarot and The Black Power Tarot... I'm sure more exist by now...Anyway.Not upset about the 8 stranger cards, just notice things like that.I'm thrilled to have a friggin' zombie deck!
I have been looking at these cards for several years, picking them up, putting them down and putting off buying. Now I am almost sad I waited so long. These cards come in a very sturdy box that is lined to protect your cards, While most cards come with a staple fold book, this one actually has a spine to it and the paper quality is better. The actual card stock will hold up to the avid user, the surface of the cards have a bit of texture to them, so the cards are more easily held instead of slipping from your grasp or being to shiny to read in bright light. Pictures are fun and light hearted.Every card has rich detail for you to be able to interpret. Pips have actual pictures rather than just a bone and a number next to them. The trumps are inspired and sweet. But where the cards shine the most is the major arcana. This is where the artist spent the most time some are humorous others are just really cool. Planning on getting at least one more set. These are so very worth it.
I'm very much obsessed with anything Zombie themed, so this deck wasn't a hard sell for me. I was able to connect with this deck immediately, and even noticed a few nods to some of my favorite zombie films! That being said, I don't think a zombie obsession is required in order to use this deck effectively (although it certainly helps!). The images are very reminiscent of Rider-Waite tradition, but with refreshing, and often humorous, zombie twists. There also isn't a lot of gore and gross imagery in this deck, which is what a lot of people want to think when they hear "zombies".The deck comes housed in a sturdy box, designed to look like an ammo box. The presentation of this deck is really nice, and it's great to have a safe place to store the cards.The guidebook is written in keeping with the theme of the deck, and there are even a few spreads included to get you started. The card descriptions are very " to the point". There are no interpretations included for reversals, so if you read with reversals, you'll have to draw your own conclusions. I usually read reversals, but I don't with this deck. I feel that the images on the cards usually deliver the messages shockingly clear without them.My only gripe about this deck is the cardstock that it's printed on. The cards are very thick and stiff, and a little longer than average sized tarot cards, making it a little difficult for my average sized female hands to shuffle. I prefer to riffle shuffle, and it's damn near impossible for me to do with this deck. Other than that, this deck is absolutely perfect for me, and has quickly become a favorite. My readings with this deck have been very accurate, and sometimes, surprisingly literal. I'm very pleased with it, and would recommend it to anyone, zombie obsessed or not.
