good book wish I had this when I was sailing in the Bahamas for 3 months
This book is great resource for boaters, campers or those of us preparing our home for a rainy day (hurricane season). There are shopping suggestions, recipes and tips on storage and cooking with little or no electricity.
I didn't get this book for recipes. I got it for the wealth of information about stocking and storing food for emergencies. I'm not disappointed, either. As I prep for a hurricane, I'm using this book to guide me. It has other applications, too, like for power outages or freezer failure. I highly recommend this book.
I have known Janet and her late husband since the 1960's. Her works are the result of many years of " hands on" experience in travels on land and sea. Her first hand knowledge of what to expect when finding one's self in a totally new environment with very different fresh foods, as well as cultures contributes in adapting to the ever changing world we live in. She has a very realistic approach to the question "what if" ?I relish the many times we have shared anchorages, delightful days under sail, enjoying the meals prepared in her galley at day's end, watching the sun go down, content with knowing we never would recapture that day. Her many books in my bookcase are dogeared ;borrowed from boating, camping friends and those who dream !In all sincerity to this lady whose friendship I cherish, Ann Bolderson
