The loss of a pet is horrible when they are all that you have in this world they become your life. Everyone needs to be loved, needed, and wanted and that's what they do for us. They make you feel those things and more. Talk about a blessing. To lose them is like your whole world is turned upside down and your heart actually hurts. This book helped my realize that we will be back together again someday.

I bought this book shortly after I lost my beagle Ace. He had surgery to remove a tumor on his liver and while he was doing great right out of surgery, he declined shortly after and didn't respond to any attempts to save him. We had to put him to sleep. The ONLY thing that brought me comfort was to know that I will see Ace again someday and when that day comes I will never have to say goodbye to him again. The Christian point of view on various subjects and interpretations of the bible are always going to differ. My personal opinion is that when God designed both me and Ace before the world even began He knew He was going to bring Ace, my husband, and I together. And I'm sure that God was delighted because He knew how much we would love each other. Since Heaven is a place of perfect happiness I don't see how I will not find Ace there. Not only did Niki's book comfort me but she also personally answered emails I sent her while I was in my deepest grief. I was never blessed with children and Ace was the closest thing I ever had to a child. Niki understands this bond and the fact that she took the time to personally respond to me and encourage me meant a lot.

After losing our wonderful pet dog, Samson, on June 3rd, 2012, we were heartbroken, and almost six months later, we're still grieving over him. One might think that the older we get, the less it bothers us to lose a pet, but not true; it doesn't get any easier. We had Samson from eight weeks to 13 1/2 years old, and loved him dearly.After losing Samson, I began to wonder more than ever, if we would see him again, and wanted to believe that we would. I had heard Jack Van Impe talk about our pets in Heaven, but was never absolutely sure that it would ever be a reality; that is, until I read Niki Stranahan's book "Pets in Heaven." Now, it makes perfect sense, based on bible scripture, AND, God's love for all of His creation, that we will see the "little guy," as my wife called him, over on the other side.Also, I am half way through Randy Alcorn's book, "Heaven," and I ask myself as a Christian, "how could there have ever been any doubt in my mind."I believe that God put it in the hearts and minds of those like Niki Stranahan, to search these things out, to write them down, and make them available to us. These things only add to our desire to please God, and walk in His ways.In Rebecca Springer's book, "My Dream of Heaven," she writes, "One of the sweetest proofs we have of the Father's loving care for us, is that we so often find in this life,(Heaven) the things which gave us great happiness below."Yes, my wife and I will most certainly see little Samson again.

We were all devastated when my grandson lost his big dog Harry! Harry had been with him for over thirteen years and was like a family member. His entire family took the loss of Harry very hard, but Seth took it hardest. Even now, many months later, he's still feeling depressed.Several friends recommended this book, so I finally got it for him for Christmas. The good news: His mother reported that they started reading it as a family on Christmas Eve and they each got something from the little they read. After that, Seth read it and told me it's really helping him and he's starting to heal. Since it's helping him, his parents and sister now plan to read it separately.Woo-hoo! I always believed God loves all his creation. He gave us beautiful birds , and millions of creatures. If he created all of these, I know he would not destroy them, and say ok, I'm finished with this. No , He loved them, and it makes Him happy, and makes us happy too.Everything He does is for his children who believe in him.

I want to personally thank the Author of this book Niki Shanahan. This book has blessed me beyond words. I thank the Lord for Niki & the love that has gone into this book as she has expounded in depth from the Word Of God. We can see that God loves all Animals. I have all Niki's collection & am waiting for her new book to be released. These books are such a treasure chest to me that when I bought my Kindle last August I downloaded all her books even though I have paper back copies. You can see that these books mean a lot to me.I strongly disagree with any negitive words that have been written about these books. I have read a few of Niki Shanahan's books and they are excellent. Her book, "There is Eternal Life for Animals" was a real revelation, even though I am a long time reader of the Bible. Niki brings out testimonies of some Christians who have had NDE's and seen their pets. In her other book There is Eternal Life for Animals, she points out scriptures regarding animals that I had never noticed before. I believe God has shown Niki something that we all have wondered about and now I don't worry about where my pets will go when they die. This book is based on Biblical scripture and first-hand testimonies. I have given this book to friends or relatives who have lost a pet. I highly recommend it. For such a prevalent and pressing situation here and throughout the world it is surprising that so little has been written that is at this high caliber. I am currently training to become a sexual assault/domestic violence advocate in my community and this book was not only inspirational it is much needed honest information. The male voices are very welcome because we hardly hear about them. I am a minister. This book is going to be a great reference for my new ministry helping women who've been victimized. Read this book!

This is a great book and provides wonderful insights. The honesty and authenticity really impacted me. I found myself thinking about situations in my life and my loved ones' lives with new perspective. With all the horrible news in the world, this book shows that there are genuinely kind people who care and love. That there is a way forward. That there is always hope. I'm grateful that this book was recommended to me and I recommend it even if you haven't experienced sexual violence personally. It's a very meaningful read.

This book was impactful, informative and simply a great read! This author shares the story of the victims by letting the victims speak for themselves. Too often I have picked up a book in which someone is talking in the 3rd person about an issue as sensitive as sexual abuse. This book lets you hear directly from various 'Survivors." The subject is indeed a sensitive subject, yet we all know someone who can benefit from this great read. I decided to purchase a few copies for the holiday and share it with a few people I know who have been victims.

My book never arrived.

To the Survivors is easy to read! I found myself not wanting to put it down. It is a great resource for anyone out there that has survived rape or sexual abuse. There is something so incredibly powerful and impactful about hearing the stories of each survivor. I believe that anyone who has been affected by this horrific crime should read this. There is hope and light at the end of the tunnel and this book proves it!

This book is more spiritually geared, but otherwise, not bad.

Good book to help people understand more about resources for the sexually abused.

I recently read the book and I thought it was a great book Rape is a difficult subject to write about but Bobby did a great job. I found the book to be moving and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Mike Perry's handbook on non-fiction freelance writing is a practical and obliging look at the world of publishing.The manner in which he spills forth information is not only useful but what's more it is witty too.An accomplished writer himself, Mike guides us through the types of writing, where to find possible publications, approaches to putting it down in ink, example query letters to editors, what to say and not to say, the processes of writing-from the opening of an article, to the body of text, to the ending.Since this publication in 1998, Mike has published several down-to-earth books. They are all first-class reads. Enjoyable and insightful.As Mike says, "herd some words".

This book is terrific if you're interested in making a living as a free-lance writer and would like practical guidance about how to do it -- and it's funny too. The author focuses on the part most writers have trouble with -- finding a unique "take" on a subject -- and his advice about that is very good. I also heartily endorse his comments about how to present your work most effectively to editors. He doesn't downplay the drawbacks of working as a free-lancer, but he's also upbeat enough to make you believe it's possible if you're willing to put in the effort. I agree with his recommendation to find a good accountant to handle the financial aspects -- but, for those of us who don't live in a pop. 485 town, it would have been useful to have some hints about what to look for in an accountant! But in general this is an excellent guide to the free-lance life.However, based on my own experience (I've been making a living as a writer for most of my adult life), I have one caveat: Perry's life as a writer may not be the best life for you. If you just want to earn a living from your writing, and aren't fussy what you write about or for whom, this is a great book for you. If you have an area of specialization (e.g., computers), you can still free-lance successfully in that area -- and it's sometimes helpful in getting work for you to be an "expert." But if you're a writer who wants more time to work on your Big Project (your serious novel, your mystery series, etc.), you're better off taking a full-time job in a totally unrelated field and writing in your spare time. Free-lance writing is time-consuming, requires total commitment, and can be psychologically and physically draining; if you have any spare time at all, you'll want to go fishing rather than work on your novel! Before you quit your day job, consider WHY you want to become a free-lance writer; you may find you're better off where you are.

I finished up Handbook For Freelance Writing by Michael Perry over the last couple of days. If you're looking to start writing as a freelancer (magazine articles, stories, etc.), this is a good book to read. He writes in a very practical and amusing style, and you'll get quite a few tips on how to start structuring your efforts in this field. You'll learn the different types of freelance writing, what to expect during the process of seeking out assignments, how to make yourself easily acceptable to editors, and much more. If you've been doing freelancing for awhile, you may already know most of this. If you're just starting out like I am, then you'll benefit quite a bit from this read.

This is the book that got me started.I was a Registered Nurse from a small town in Wisconsin, looking for a new career direction, when I stumbled on this book in my local library. I'd never heard of freelance writing before, but suddenly, right there in front me was, was a book telling me how to make a living writing. I'd always loved writing!I picked it up with great curiousity and was sold when I discovered that the author was a former Registered Nurse from a small town in Wisconsin. If he could do it, I reasoned, so could I.After reading this book, I knew what I needed to do. I wasn't an expert, by any means, but I knew the steps and the process, and that was huge.Today, I'm a former Registered Nurse from a small town in Wisconsin who's written for a variety of national publications, including Parents, American Baby, Ladies' Home Journal and Boys' Life. I'm outlining a Writing for Magazines and Newspapers course, and one of the books I'm recommending to my students is Handbook for Freelance Writing.

I really would not recommend this book to others. It does not give enought information on how to make it as a freelance writer or how to make good money. I would recommend Robert Bly's book Secrets of a Freelance Writer : How to Make $85,000 a Year or How to Start a Home-Based Writing Business by Lucy Parker. I believe that these books give more actual information on how to get started, where to look for business and how to price your services. Bly's book is primarily about commercial writing but is worth buying whether you are doing magazine or commerical writing.

I actually cannot post a comment from myself as I did not read this one. I got it for a writer friend who said he enjoyed it.

I loved the player....but as an autobiographer, the book seemed overly detailed early and shallow in the last half to a third of it. Too much flowerly language throughout and the short chapters did nothing to better move the story. I yearned for stories about his relationships with teammates....players we fans all know. But much of it was glossed over. A bit disappointing, but worth a Kindle buy.

It brought back so many memories, reading this book. I grew up and came of age during Doc's playing days, and watching his games on television or at the Spectrum inspired me to go out and hit the court. He was/is and always will be my favorite player. Dr J led pro basketball to heights of popularity that it had never seen before, even during the Chamberlain and Russell era.He had a great professional life and a tough-tragic at I times personal life; he rose up and persevered through humility, honesty and hard work. This book is another class act, as is the Doctor.

I followed Dr. J when he became a member of the Philadelphia 76rs and watched the wars with Boston, Lakers and many others. His fearless dunks over those much taller than he were amazing. His autobiography was very heart warming and I deeply respected the truthfulness of it especially the fights he had with his former wife Turquoise. Dr. J succumb to what many star athletes do and that's women. These women literally throw themselves at these guys and for many, the temptation is too great so a lot of them wind up having children by different women and pay for it through child support for years to come and may never even see the child. Great book!

I thought that Dr. J was supposed to be a Christian but I don't believe that after reading this book. He spends a lot of time discussing his sex life and basically bragging about all the women he had. I was also surprised by the vulgar language which included numerous F-bombs. I no longer admire Julius and will be selling my Erving jersey and bobblehead.

I picked this up after seeing Dr. J on The Colbert Report. I was so happily surprised - I know there's smart athletes out there and I've read material from others in the past, but still it's a nice experience to dive into a book and find it well written with a good voice that lets you feel the growth of a star athlete from his earliest years. Growing up, I knew of The Doctor, and I'm sure I watched him play countless times, but I didn't know a ton about him - so for me this was a great introduction to how he changed the sport, as well as his life off the court.I'll be recommending this book to a lot of folks.

I know everybody says MJ is the GOAT & rightfully so but my GOAT will always be Dr J. Growing up in Philly & watching the Nets & then he came to my town to play out his career was amazing for me to see. I wanted to me like the doctor. Enough said

I remember reading a library book about Dr.J when I was a kid and as an adult, I hoped he would write an autobiography. I enjoyed it and I'm glad I read it. it was great reliving his days on the court. it was also interesting reading about his life off the court. He certainly wrote a honest book even when being honest revealed bad decisions that he made in his personal life. he didn't hold back. His book is definitely worth the read and it takes you back in time to where he cemented himself as one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Very interesting book.... I had no idea that my all time favorite player was so conservative.... oh well, still a good read

I discovered Gavin after listening to his Free Speech podcast, and after that The Gavin McInnes Show. This book serves as a good base for a lot of what he talks about today, which is always completely honest and uncensored. It's a cliche to say that Gavin doesn't care what people think about him, but it's actually true about him. It's refreshing to read the works of someone who has lost a lot for being brutally honest but never backs down or apologizes, because he believes in what he does. Gavin says a lot of things that other people think to themselves but are afraid to say out loud. Some people are highly offended by his candor, as evidenced by the negative reviews for this book, although as you might expect, none of them are Verified Purchases on Amazon. The fact that Gavin keeps doing what he's doing despite this (usually manufactured manufactured) outrage is a testament to how lucky our society is to have him. Stay cool man.

I'm still thumbing through it, jumping from chapter to chapter, but so far it is making me laugh harder than almost any humor book I've ever read. Usually the most a book can elicit from me is a smile, or maybe a slight chuckle. But this book has me guffawing and chortling loudly for extended periods of time. I bought it for my 13 yr-old son, but one glance convinced me that no, that would never do---not until he's an adult (and even then, I'd still feel weird!---it's very raunchy in spots).If you like his youtube videos and his blog posts, you'll enjoy this.

The reason I loved this book is because Gavin McInnes puts his story out there with honesty and humor. That includes all the warts. Not literally, of course. He tells the story of a man, something we don't get to hear much of anymore. Most memoirs one reads these days are so sanitized and therefore weak and pointless. Not this book. Being of the same generation, I can really appreciate this piece. The story is multi-faceted, and one of the more interesting themes is that Gavin is an incredibly hard working individual who is constantly looking to redefine the way he builds his brand and himself. He doesn't give any cheap advice on shortcuts. No, this is a story of trial by error and how perseverance eventually won him the day. An unabashed tome of ballsiness and pluck. I highly recommend it.

Well, partially true. His story embodied a form of rebellious youth that I don't posses, which gave me much pleasure from reading. His association, career and breakup with Vice are wild and intriguing(He should've waited btw, Vice is worth a lot more now than at the time Gavin seceded). But the most significant aspect of his book is his incremental introspective approach as he ages and his free willed spirit to put forth his fist and do stupid things while also prioritizing his life.

If you grew up on the 80's and 90's, then this book is for you. A lot of my own memories were spurred with this coming to age/pop culture book. It's hard to put down once you start reading. An easy read. Fun book.

Hilariously entertaining. This book is well written and thought out. From his stupid teenage mistakes to his early adult mishaps the book delivers on Gavin's sense of humor.

His on-camera image is very different to who he really is. If your "weird" then this book will read like a biography. It also covers the founding of vice till Gavin left in 2008 over creative differences. Also Covers Being part of the weird group in high school, being a punk rocker in the late 80s. his time playing in an alternative band, planting trees, selling drugs, teaching English in Taiwan, creating vice, taking Acid, South by South West, partying and especially cocaine and marriage. Great book, couldn't put it down. Don't buy this if you are stupid or easily offended or both.
